Presented in: Focus Group Discussion & Declaration of Indonesia Soy Food and Beverage Network

The main topic discussed by the speaker are how and where is SOYBEAN Indonesia in the future?

Prof. Ahmad explained the things that could be learned from ARPI (Indonesia Cold Chain Association), namely:

  1. We should start from the challenges and opportunities and same intention to work together to overcome the problems.
  2. Need to hire full time person to manage the organization. This person could act as executive director who works under supervision of Board trustee
  3. Availability of secretariat, organization website, and communication networking are important to facilitate the communication, and to introduce and to report organization activities
  4. Annual general meeting need to conduct to evaluate the organization achievement and to report to the member
  5. Communication and collaboration with other related organizations like ARPI, APERINDO, GAPMMI, ILSI, etc. is very important
  6. Close relationship with government agencies like KEMENTAN, BPOM, KKH PRG, KEMENKES, and LPPOM MUI

The things that SOYBEAN Indonesia need to prepare:

  1. SOYBEAN Indonesia need to be legalized: establishment of deed and AD / ART required to be composed and ratified
  2. Develop an annual or 5-year organization program
  3. Organization should provide optimum benefit to its members by:
    • increasing effectiveness, knowledge and capability of SOYBEAN Indonesia member in producing and marketing soyfood and beverage products through various trainings, seminars and workshops about soy based products,
    • visiting / internship abroad,
    • inviting international experts for knowledge transfer related to soy processing, preserving, and packaging,
    • support local farmer in producing and developing new product from local soybean,
    • translate  and apply innovation from universities and research institutes,
    • and promote soy based products as part of healthy life.
